New Zealand Customs Client Code
A client code is a unique identifier issued by New Zealand Customs to businesses and individuals involved in importing and exporting goods. It is required to complete customs clearances and must be used for all eligible shipments once issued.
You will need a client code if you are:
• Importing or exporting goods valued at NZD 1,000 or more
• Importing food for sale, or ingredients used in food for sale, regardless of value
• Importing a motor vehicle, regardless of value
• Exporting goods that require a permit, regardless of value
Once your client code is issued, it must be quoted on all applicable import and export entries moving forward.
